Joyce and All,

 

In the majority of cases, there is not information in the "CC" line (also
known as the Carbon Copy) of the header of an e-mail.  You will always find
something in the "From" line, and if you have received a message or you are
sending a message and you have entered an e-mail address in the "To" line,
then there will be something in there.

 

If you are trying to extract someone's e-mail address from the From line of
a message received from the list, it can be difficult as many times our
individual e-mail addresses are hidden or embedded inside the address to the
list.  If you copy and paste that entire thing, you will be just sending a
message back to the list and you could have done a Reply.

 

With JAWS, and maybe with other screen readers, when you are in the body of
a message, there are keystrokes that will read the various lines of the
message header.  Here they are in a bulleted list.

 

.         Alt+1 Reads the From line in the message header (Does not work in
a message you are creating)

.         Alt+2 Reads the date and time line that the message was received
(Does not work in a message you are creating)

.         Alt+3 Reads the To line of the message 

.         Alt+4 Reads the CC line of the message

.         Alt+5 reads the Subject line of the message

.         Alt+6 Reads the BCC line of the message if you have this set to be
visible

 

If you press Alt plus the number twice quickly, you can move the cursor to
that field in the message header instead of just reading the contents of the
field and having your cursor remain in the body of the message.

I have heard folks say they don't know how to find and copy a person's email
within an email.

 

This is done in Outlook email.

 

Directions for copying email address.

 

Open an email

 

Hold down shift key and hit the tab key 4 times while holding shift key
down.

This will bring you to the CC area.  Hit control  A this is select all Hit
control C copy keys] and now you can control V [paste it]  where you need
it.

*note: When you get to the CC box it should  tell you the person's name, but
it does not do that every time.  It might just say CC.  The name and email
address is there, but I don't know why JAWS don't read it all the time.  So
do go thru the above and when it selects it, it will say the email address.

You are copying it to the clip board all of it.
