    Annely,

According to Tammy, there is nothing more tasty than pumpkin. Buy the plain
pureed pumpkin and just give it to your dog. Definitely thaw it first. Tammy
is messy with ice. If I thaw it, it stays in the bowl and not broken up all
in the floor. My dog gets limited treats. For her, it's a good day when she
gets pumpkin so why mix it in the food. I wouldn't want my chocolate cake
mixed with my peas or spinach (big grin). She makes real quick work of
scarfing that pumpkin down and cleaning her bowl real good. Pumpkin is low
calorie, high in fiber and vitamins, and apparently real tasty.

Now, if your dog has a microchip, it doesn't matter that the information is
out of date. Contact that company and update it and start paying the annual
fee and keep it updated. I think most have some sort of medical hotline or
even poison control. There are a couple different formats of microchip and
the people who read them know how to tell which company. You wouldn't want a
new microchip just because the old one is not current. The danger would be
that if she was found, the scanner could read the old information instead of
the new one. Talk to your vet if you have any questions. Each vet uses one
brand or another and does not carry them all. Regardless of what brand of
microchip, I think you can register it with any company like Home Again.
Their address is www.homeagain.com Having a collar on your dog with contact
information is good. However, you have to assume that collar can be
separated. If she were stolen, they could take it off or it could come off.
A microchip does not get separated from your dog and any animal shelter or
vet would scan a potentially lost dog to find out where it belongs. The
microchip lasts for a lifetime under normal circumstances. Once your dog is
in the database for a particular company, it stays there for life. However,
you get no services. I pay the $20 a year (it just went up this year) and if
she is lost, a whole host of things would happen if I notified them she was
lost to help and locate her as well as the other benefits that we receive.
So, for me, it is well worth the cost since she can't speak for herself.
Microchipping has nothing to do with being a service dog or a pet. It is the
same. My roommate got a dog from the shelter. When he took it to the vet to
have it checked, since it was not microchipped, that was one of the first
things he did.If you have more questions, you can contact me offline.

Hi Greg,

4 questions:
1. Do you mix anything into the pumpkin to make it more tasteful?
2. Do you put it in her food or give it straight?
3. Do you thaw it out or give it frozen?
4. Where can I get the info on the Home Again microchipping? It sounds
like a good program, especially with the on call nurse 24/7. My dog has a
microchip, but the information is old and outdated by about 7 years. I had
forgotten about it until I went through her papers recently. She's a pet,
not a service dog. Home Again sounds good. She does wear a bone-shaped tag
with her name and my cell phone number on it (an FSU tag). Thanks in
advance. Take care and god bless.

Annely

Also, is she
microchipped? You may be entitled to call and talk to a vet

through that. Tammy has Home Again and for
$20 a year, one of my benefits is
a ask a
nurse type thing but with a vet 24/7 unlimited. That's
just one of
the benefits.

As long as she is
eating and not just laying around I think that is a good
sign. Monday seems like a long time away, but
keep her going out side for
relief.

Have you looked up online to
see if there is any more that you can do?

What week! Have little Annie spaded this past
Monday, and paid a good deal
at the Vet for
this. Well also had a tooth removed also. On Wednesday, had
a
bowel blockage and cleared that up by
giving her pumpkin to start things
going, it
worked well. Still nursing tooth and soft food. Well today,
has a
urine infection. Paid for the shot but
still got infection. Has to take her
out
about 10 times a day. Of course the Vet can not see her
until Monday at
9AM, cause closed today at 3
and we called at 2, and closed Sunday. Annie
seems fine in every other way but Mommy is a
reck. Just need smypath from
other doggie
families.

Terry K
