[Nfb-krafters-korner] zoom loom and card weaving

Many Many years ago when I was in elementary school, I did something that I
think was called card weaving. There were multiple cardboard squares, maybe
10, that were approximately 4 inches by 4 inches. The cards were number
sequentially, and each one had a hole in each of its 4 corrners. I believe
that the holes were labeled A through D in a clockwise direction around the
square. You stacked up the squares so that all the holes of the same letter
were lined up, and then you threaded a different color of yarn through each
of the stacks holes in the squares. You would tie 1 end of your yarn to a
door knob, and then somehow by rotating the squares, you could make patterns
in your weaving. I have no memory of ever actually producing something with
this technique. I've got a feeling, I was missing some important piece.

Subject: [Nfb-krafters-korner] zoom loom and card weaving

Hello all,

I was in Colorado for Spring Break last week, and got a chance to visit the
thread studio at the Denver Art Museum where I got to work a little bit with
the zoom loom and card weaving. Have any of you heard of these crafts? My
guide's puppy raiser was with me so we sort of figured out how to do the
crafts together, but I am wanting to learn more about them, and I wasn't
certain of where to start with getting accessible instructions and all that.
Thanks for any help.

Cheers,
Minh

"All men dream, but not equally. Those who dream by night in the dusty
recesses of their minds, wake in the day to find that it was vanity:
but the dreamers of the day are dangerous men, for they may act on their
dreams with open eyes, to make them possible." T. E. Lawrence
