Hi all, I heard one time that there were pet insurance policies.
Check these out on line to see if they still exist, I have also heard that 
they can be quite expensive.

Not sure if this is in other countries or not or if it is in other states 
but in Nebraska we have something called Sadie's Dog.  This is a fund that 
helps pay for emergency vet bills when something like this happens.

Oh, Catherine,
I’m guessing that Pearl is a Lab or maybe she thinks she is.  When I had 
Jelly I resorted to putting all food in the microwave, not on the counter or 
bench.  I also would take newspaper to our bedroom and line the floor by the 
door if she got into something that might likely come back up at night; like 
the corn on the cob she ate, husks and all!  Crazy adorable dog.
She’s been gone for more than 10 years and I still put food items in the 
microwave rather than leaving it out on the counter.  Not a bad habit for 
me.
Your vet bill has to hurt.  Hope Pearl has a speedy recovery.
