[Nfb-krafters-korner] Knit sweater class bulky yarn

I will say, those bulky yarns do catch my interest, but just something to
think about... If you put the money into that yarn, if you are going to put
the time into making that sweater, where, when and will you wear it? Those
yarns are beautiful and are warm, not exactly wear around the house, unless
you are trying to save on your heating bill. That still leaves your legs,
arms, hands and head to keep warm...

So put some thought into that.

A good example as to what Annette said, Make it for a child as they run
outside without coats and might get more use out of a warm sweater. If you
don't mind if it might get worn, dirty, lost buttons, etc as my Mom is in
the thought I made that for him, for her and you should try to keep it nice.
Now my thoughts are gee whiz they must really like what I made them as they
are always wearing it! So do you want someone to use what you made for them
or you want them to keep it in a box and never take it out only on Christmas
when you might stop by.

I never like how my buttonholes come out. I think because I tend to cast-on
and bind-off to tightly it messes them up. I'm sure if I took the time to
address that issue when I'm making the buttonhole maybe I would change my
mind. So I resort to other options such as ties, snaps, or a loop that goes
around the button. Many cardigans are styled without buttons as mentioned
earlier, so this has made me give some thought to trying to make a sweater.

The honest truth is that I've only made one baby sweater. I've tossed
around the thought of making another, or a sweater for myself, but the
seaming scares me off. If I were to do another sweater I would use a
top-down method with as few seams as possible. I'm more inclined to try a
baby sweater before I tackle one for myself or anyone else.

I have been giving a quick look at some of the patterns for sweaters made
from the popular bulky yarns. I just do not know if I am up to it right now

Annette, how are you at buttonholes?
There are always plenty of charities that would be happy to receive baby
sweaters. Or you may just want to keep it as a demonstration of your
accomplishment.

pullover as it is simpler and will help provide a good foundation of how a
sweater is constructed. Because a baby sweater does not take as long to
make, everyone might be better able to keep up. A few months later there
could be a second class on how to make a baby cardigan. If you do not have
a baby to gift the sweater to, then maybe we can turn this into a charity
project and donate the sweaters.
