[Nfb-krafters-korner] Question about intarsia

Naima, intartia is not a beginners class. It is a way to take a second yarn
of a contrasting color to make a design or picture within another color
without leaving any gaps. After you have mastered knitting and purling and
feel comfortable enough that you can have several things in your hands
together, intartia is a great technique. There may be enough interest that
we should try to find somebody to teach a class, and we can probably do
that.

If you already knit, let us know. I will be teaching a class on basic
knitting stitches during the second half of October: stockinette, garter,
ribbing, moss stitch, seed stitch, and basket or checkerboard. If you are
a beginner, we can get you started. Knitting is a great craft and can be
relaxing. If it is where you want to put your efforts as a new member, it
is a good place to start. But there are many more. We have quite a few
knitters who learned with needles in the traditional way. We also have
quite a few people who knit with what they call looms. Really, they are
frames with pegs around them. I don't know how they do intartia, but I'll
bet somebody will tell us.
If you are seriously interested in buying a sewing machine, you may want to
keep in touch with one of our experienced seamstresses by email or phone as
you go through the steps. There are lots of things to consider. Then
learning to sew on the machine is one of the best things I ever did. I made
a lot of clothes for my kids as they were growing up from play clothes to
formal dresses.

But you probably should choose to emphasize one or two things at a time.
That's to keep from driving yourself crazy and going into bankruptcy.
Ramona

Henry

What is it and is it a good Kraft for a beginner like me to start? I have
done latch hooking in art class in school, so I know that. Is this similar
to that?

When is the next class? How soon can I join?

Naima
