Hello Knitters:

Can someone please give me some tips on joining self striping yarn.

I’m knitting a shawl using a self striping yarn, I can’t recall the brand, but I can find out if it’s necessary for the answer.  My specific question is, do I need to match the color when joining 2 balls, i.e. do I need to join the yarn at the same color in order for the pattern to continue in the same way?
