I think I might also use some rubber bands to act as protectors for the
stitches on the loom.
I think what I might do is use a series of rubber bands, making e wraps
around each peg. This will keep the stitches on the loom while it is in
transit.  The other idea would be making figure 8s around the loom.  That
might not be as secure, but probably easier to remove when you reach your
destination.

Jessica,
I think with loom knitting it is important to store the skein of yarn and
the loom separate.  Like Cathy said, use a zip lock or bag to store the
skein of yarn, then put the loom and zip locked yarn into a gab that will
hold both.  The problem is the loose yarn gets tangled up in the pegs and it
is hard to figure out what is going where and if it is to be that way or
not.  Good Luck!

I have suggestions for you which I have learned from others on this list.
First, needle keepers will keep your work safely on the needles and unable
to tangle with the yarn or poke through a bag. for the yarn itself, poke a
hole into a zip lock bag, then  place each skein/ball into your bag and
thread the yarn through the hole, then finally close the bag.'

Your yarn is safe, clean and separated. Now place everything into a large
carry bag and you are ready to go!
