I have never done it, but it should be able to be done.  Where the circle closes, would be where your 2 ends of the life line would meet and cross, to make an x, kind of.  Then dangle from there.  
I might try it when I start the sead and top of the vest.
Cathy, I found it helpful to put markers, every 24 stitches, to help count, when I casted on and to tell what stitch I was on.  It is a lot easier to count 24 than a large number.  You want your markers to be a multiple of 6, because of the patern in the body.  My total stitch count was 144 so 24 worked fine.

Does anyone know if you can install lifelines on a circular knitted pattern like this?

Hi all,

Well, I was making such good progress with knitting my vest. Then, I had finished the ribbing and was attempting to transfer my stitches onto a larger neeedle when, oh my, oh no, but yes!!! I began dropping stitches. I grabbed stitch markers and dove down into the yarn searching for the dropped stitches. I would catch one only to lose the one next to it.

long story short,I frogged the vest and began it again tonight. So my question is this, what is the best way to transfer stitches to a new circular needle when knitting in the round? I attempted to transfer over a stitch at a time, but the stitches got twisted and began jumping off of my needles.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
