[Nfb-krafters-korner] five hour baby sweater help

HI there.
Okay I discovered that my yarn for this sweater is 3 light weight.
I went to the store to get more yar and came home with light yarn again. It felt heavier.
No help in the store just my almost 12 year old daughter who did not really know what she was looking for.
So can someone help me figure out how to adjust the pattern or something similar?
A gauge would be good too if possible.
