The first thing you need to do is a sample swatch in order to get a gauge
with the new yarn and the needles.  Cast on like 30 stitches and knit in
stockinette [knit 1 row, purl 1 row]

I really are not following exactly what you are asking.  Are you wanting to
make a new sweater or do you want to finish the sweater off with this new
yarn?

HI there.
Okay I discovered that my yarn for this sweater is 3 light weight.
I went to the store to get more yar and came home with light yarn again. It
felt heavier.
No help in the store just my almost 12 year old daughter who did not really
know what she was looking for.
So can someone help me figure out how to adjust the pattern or something
similar?
A gauge would be good too if possible.
