[Nfb-krafters-korner] insensitive comments, but some really cool crafts

I don't know where it is, but I had a stick figure of a man holding a guitar, made of nails and other things like that!

I relly did have a great time though. There was a vendor that made metal sculptures out of junk. The bottom of one was a hub cap, then a stem of some kind of metal that looks like the bendy neck of some desk lamps painted green. Then there were flowers. One flower was made of wrenches, another of some kind of wiring, and another of sheet metal. Everything was painted.
I asked if they could be left out in the rain and snow and the woman said yes. She had comments from people about how cool they look poking through the snow.

Another vendor made what looked like a trivit made out of wood. They were shaped like flowers, maple leaves, and some other shapes. The really cool thing was that if you pull up the handle it came up into a basket that shape, and it was all one piece of wood. We took his info. I said to my son-in-law, "my birthday and Christmas is coming you know."

I got carried away with maple stuff. Maple cashews, walnuts, marinade, bbq sauce and maple cream.

Another very creative man makes his own tie die designs. All of his things are tie died, but he can make them come out with pictures not just random swirls.

Enough for tonight, I could go on and on. It was lots of fun in spite of that stupid ignorant woman.

Bernice and the sweet Octane.

I went to a craft show with my Mom years ago. We were looking at some silver jewelry. The woman at the booth told me not to touch the jewelry because she would have to polish it. At that time, I was totally dumbfounded! We walked off and were totally insulted. I'm not sure what I would today. I'm pretty sure I would have landed on her with both feet.
Smile! You know there just isn't any cure for stupid. Lol! If I can't touch the product, the person sure doesn't need my money.

I think these kinds of run ins happen in clusters. Today the kids and my son-in-law and I went out for supper after a concert we all went to, and when the waitress came with our food and was rather strange. She put Jim's food down in front of him and said something like, "do you want me to set the food down for the others?" what didshe think she was going to do with it. Oh well, hopefully we're done with it for a few days so I can regroup.

Bernice and that sweet Octane I am also itching to get back to using.

So, picture this. Yesterday my son-in-law and I went to the festival, and I always go through the crafts and then on my way back pick up the things I decided on buying. Jim had a very large l shaped box on his shoulders, he had his service dog on a body leash, I was walking beside him hanging onto his shirt because his arms were occupied. We stopped at the last place just to get their business card because I decided I spent enough money already.
We asked for the card, I stepped forward with my hand out for the card and the woman said, "I'll put it in his front pocket. I said, "why, my hand is right here?" She said well you're blind and your hand ..." I said I certainly could take the card and it had nothing to do with being blind. I was so aggravated, that the only thing I am going to do with her card is write something on her web site about what an incentive oaf she is. I also announced that there of lots of other places to buy lighthouse stuff.

We were quite a sight. We had to walk about four blocks back to the car, and I bought breakable stuff like maple bbq sauce, maple marinade, pizza sauce, and spaghetti sauce. I made one little stumble, but thankfully nothing broke. All in all it was lots of fun.

Bernice and the sweet Octane resting.

Bernice,
Hello! I love nautical things too. I live in Nebraska and to my surprise, I found all kinds of light houses, ships, etc. That was so funny to me.
You should see my bedroom. I have 2 dozen lighthouses in it. Lol! Looks like I live on the coast. Hahaha!

Hi fellow krafters,

My son-in-law and I were looking online yesterday for knitting looms. We found a Martha Stewart box of pieces you could put together in many shapes to weave and knit on. We saw it online for $40 and at Wal-Mart for $25. So I bought it at Wal-Mart. Also, there is a peg board with two types of pegs.
It is for weaving and other projects.. Again, it was much less expensive at Wal-mart.

Many years ago, I had a wooden rectangular frame with rather tall wooden pegs on all four sides. You strung it in such a way that when you went all the way around it made square holes. You kept going around until you had the desired thickness. Then you tied each intersection of all of the squares. Finally you cut the ends between the pegs. All of that gave you a thick hot pad for your table or a thinner one could be a placemat. One of the pegs broke and I used two nails side by side for the peg. Then it started falling apart. I have never been able to find that loom again. I am going to ask my handyman to make me one, because I am tired of looking for it.

Also, we found a three round loom set and a four round loom set. The box said you could either weave or knit on them. I think I'll go back and get one set. Then I'll need to find someone to teach me how to knit on it.

Can you tell? I'm itching to get back to doing crafts. I am having trouble waiting for my hand to get better. Although, I'm not having any trouble typing.

I also couldn't stand it any more yesterday, I had to pack a few boxes for moving. As many of you know, I am a lighthouse and nautical theme collector. Our grocery store had a huge display of that stuff. I bought pillows for my outdoor chairs, and many other things. I figured it was kind of stupid to try to find a place to put them away since I am moving. So, I got a very large box and packed it all plus other kitchen stuff. While I was at it I did another box of kitchen glass items. My son-in-law was here to get the things from the top shelves, so I took advantage of it and got those things packed also.

I am off to our lilac festival today to see others arts and crafts.

Bernice and the sweet Octane.
