In Idaho I heard people saying this is the best month of the year for fruit:
peaches, grapes, plumbs, mellonsapples, and tomatoes. Now are you hungry.  I
got a bag of peaches from my neighbor and one from  my son, and they are
virtually all just perfect.  The best of the apples are just starting to
mature locally.  I have a sweet tooth; my favorite is still delicious,
yellow or red.  But fuji, honey crisp, and others are close behind.  But the
wonderfully sweet peaches right off the trees are distracting me right now.
They have more flavor than sugar, but just as sweet.  You cannot eat one
without a napkin or something under your chin, unless you want juice
dripping off your chin.

I'm sure this discussion is not going to be good for my diet, but it will be
