I am not the teacher, but I suggest size 16 or 18 metal needles for your project and size 7 canvas.

Subject: [NFB-Krafters-Korner] Plastic grid tissue box cover class

I will be teaching a phone class on making a tissue box cover using plastic grid. The class will be posted for sign up very soon. This is a beginner class and you do not have to have any prior experience working with plastic grid.

I will teach a bargello stitch. A bargello stitch is a patterned stitch that is made over a number of holes and usually does not fill in every hole. The holes do not show through though, because of the way the threads cross over each other.

I like using a variegated yarn. You also could use one color for the design and another color framing the stitch.

I am offering to precut your grid for anybody that wants me to do it. What I would need to know is the dimensions of your favorite tissue box. There are jumbo and average long and boutique sizes. I have to admit that I ask my wonderful son-in-law or my crafty friend to cut my grid. I hate doing it myself. I can do it, but it is a hassle, so why hassle myself when it is so easy for one of them to do it.

The class dates are Tuesday January 22 and 29 and Thursday February 7 at
8:00 PM EST.

You will need 1 or 2 sheets of plastic grid, and a small amount of 1 or 2 colors of worsted weight yarn, a yarn needle and scissors.

There are several types of yarn needles. There is a plastic kind that has an oversized round tip that won't fit through the holes in the grid. Obviously you don't want that kind. Then there are yarn needles with sharp points and ones with less pointy tips. These each come in plastic and metal. I don't like the sharp pointed metal needle, because it makes my fingers sore. I prefer the metal rounded point, because I find it easier to pull through the grid. .

Please consider joining us, and if you want precut plastic canvas email me at Bernice.j.bird at gmail.com <mailto:Bernice.j.bird at gmail.com> . By January 10.

Bernice and the adorable LoLo.
