That makes such amazing blankets.  I saw one that was worked up then they went back and did cross stitch on it.  It was beautiful but very heavy!

Your afghan needle is perfect. Somewhere along the lines they canged the
name of the afghan stitch to Tunisian crochet. I was quite surprised as
well.

If you have the hook with a crochet hook on both sides, this works fine as
wel. Just put a stopper on one end so the loops won't fall off.

I recommend a large hook in gage as you can find. I learned on a K hook, for
example. For those who do not have these special longer hooks, you can use a
crochet hook to practice on. Learn the stitch and if you like it, then
invest. You can make a pouch for a small gift with just a crochet hook. I
used an N needle and Shawl in a Ball from Lion brand to make a baby blanket
that is stunning. Thin yarn with a big hook make this normally dense stitch
light and lacy.

Do we need a specific needle for this?  I have a lot of regular medal
crochet needles and 1  for the Aphgan stitch.  Thanks!

I am intrigued with Tunisian crochet as well as I have a thing for making
dishcloths. A little story... I saw this lady on You Tube make a dish cloth
with Tunisian hooks and I was so enthused, I purchased a nice set of hooks.
Then came the laughter... I couldn't even get the first stitch completed.
So, Melanie, I am glad to know that there is someone else in the group who
is curious about tonesian knitting, and I am most interested in learning the

Hi crafters!
First off, I am wondering about Tunisian crochet - who does it, who loves
it? Is it hard to do? It sounds fun! I just ordered a set of Tunisian hooks
from Amazon (not a great choice but I'll get better ones later if I enjoy
it) and I've been reading about the various Tunisian stitches. I think my
first project will be a dishcloth to get my feet wet. I started looking into
Tunisian crochet socks and didn't think that sounded like a real good
option. I still want to learn to knit socks - either on the loom or on
needles.

Off topic, I hope you all don't mind if I give a shameless plug for my two
