Beckie, that needle in the leg story belongs on the Tales from the E R story 
that Terry P and I watch.
Terry P, what would nurse Terry say about that one?
Would that be as bad as the guy that had the camp stove stuck um you know 
where?

Terry, about five inches went into my thy on the needle. There is a deep
scratch from whatever Dr. Ben did to get it out.

Now which story should I tell, giggle, hum.

Tunisian hook. I was sitting Tunisian crocheting the beginning of a sweater
with this medium blue yarn I was just in love with. By habit when I had to
answer the phone or call of nature, I just stuck the fourteen-inch hook in
the side, meaning between the pillow and the arm rest of my chair. Got up, I
assume, and back down I went. Something amazing went through my thy. Gave
the hook a tug after I stood up and it wouldn't come out. I cut the yarn,
sad face. Tried again to pull the hook out. No dice. Called 911. "What is
your emergency," the young gal asked. "I have a crochet hook stuck in my
them," I calmly replied. "You're kidding?" "No mam I need help from the
ambulance people as it will not come out." "You're kidding? "She gave this
deep huff and called the ambulance. The men came and my guide dog wiggled
greeting them. Glad they liked dogs. They examined me and asked what
hospital I wanted to go to.  They were not going to touch the hook. Off we
went to the Osteopathic hospital. Dr. Maza greeted me. "Beck what are you
doing here?" "Dr. Maza you won't believe what I did". He said, "you're
kidding me?" "Oh, come on beck," with a laugh.  He looked under the blanket
and was shocked. He gave a gentle pull. Then had it x rayed and called a
surgeon. "Dr. Ben, you won't believe what I did." "Aw, come on Beck not
funny." "Holy cow you have a needle stuck in your leg!" "Let me see those x
rays." He got the needle out with no problems and sent me home, seems to me
with a script and my hook, giggle.

The story I thought of first was, I was crocheting with this tiny size 2 or
3 hook and just was not happy. I lay down the hook on an end table picked it
up and tried again. I was making my stitches way to tight. Well about the
third time I laid it down it rolled into the crevice design of the table. It
was stuck in there tight. I got a yarn needle and began lifting the very end
up and then it would drop back in again. Then it dawned on me if the needle
had no where to go, I could lift it and grab the end out easier. So, to my
friend horror I pushed the needle several inches forward down the crevice,
and as slick as you please the end popped up and I grabbed the needle out.

Then there was the time my white yarn flew across the para transit van
filthy floor. Hey soap and water work, grin.

Oh this one is a fun one!

So we get together each Friday during the summer at a different friends
cottage to knit.  One of my knitting needles rolled across the deck at my
friend's cottage and down in between the cracks of the deck.  She pulled out
this special tool she had for  retrieving things from under the deck.  It
was a long flexible cable that had grabber fingers on one end and a button
on the other end.  She fished the grabber finger end down between the cracks
of the deck, positioned it over the knitting needle, pushed the button and
the grabber fingers opened up.  She placed them around the knitting needle,
and let go of the button.  The claws clamped onto the knitting needle.  She
then fished it back up through the crack in the deck.  Pretty cool!
