[Nfb-krafters-korner] Election question

I Have to say that this is my third year in KK and no one has ever talked to
those of us who are new about responsibilities. I have never felt that the
group has communicated well what it needs or wants. I see the complaints,
but we've never started from the ground up. I sometimes think I have lots of
suggestions but am not convinced most people want to hear them. I need to
think about all of this but something needs to change. I am largely
disappointed. I thought I would learn crafts here, but am not finding this
true, and for the few who have worked with me I appreciate it, but I think
it is not as simple as take a class on the phone or by email. I like email
better because I can look and try. On the phone I have not been succe3ssful
with one craft I've tried, and while I think I know where the problems are,
unless I am convinced most people want to have an honest and productive
discussion, I won't say any more. I'd like to see us fix this but in order
for that to happen we all need to work together and right now I am not sure
that is happening. When the people I saw as committed are stating
something's wrong, we all need to talk, and be willing to throw around ideas
and work with each other to make this group what it has the potential to be.

The new board may have to revisit "requirements" for board members. We are
all volunteers, and most of us have many other commitments. I have enjoyed
this group, but there is no way I could fulfil everything now expected.
Spreading responsibility among more people seems to me better than piling
too much on a few. Leadership is never simple, and there is really often no
right or wrong way, just what works. .

It is not so much about experience as it is the ability to fulfill the list
of responsibilities of the position.

For example, I was asked to temporarily fill a position. One responsibility
was to submit reports to national. I am good with paperwork and I am sure
someone on the board or national would help learn what was needed. Another
responsibility is teaching or leading a chat at least once a quarter. I have
been told by a few different people that I am not teacher material. And I
have proven that I am terrible at making it to chats, even when I put it on
my calendar. So, that means that I cannot fulfill the requirements of the
position.

This may be what is keeping people from running.

Also, beside president, are none of the current board interested in running
again?

Cindy
PS is it possible to have two people fill a position? That would help spread
the responsibility.
