Terry P.,
It takes strong people to be Foster Parents. I'm glad they were there for you!

He sounds like a great guy stepping in like he did.

At four and a half, I was adopted by a single lady and raised by her and her mother. My mom and grand mother raised many adopted and foster kids. About 3/4 of the family are handicapped in some manner.
My mom walked with iron braces and cruches, due to birth defects. My grand mother had a few strokes in her later years. Two of us have vision problems.
I thank my mom for finding a county in MD that I could get good braille training. I did not have to go to a special school. Times were hard, not getting my books on time, but I made it through my AA degree!
My grand mother is the one who made me realize, I had a sight problem, by asking me if I could see a robbin!
She raised me and the older ones, while my mom worked as a lawyer. The older ones helped raise the younger ones. Mom is the one who tought me the basic knit stitch and helped me to make an afkan and doll blankets for my 2 sisters, at the time!
Since I did not have a dad, I became good friends with one of my coworkers, who later was my branch chief.
He became a step dad, to me!
He gave me away in my wedding!
I saw him through the ups and downs of cancer. I was even at his bed side, when he passed.
I did not have that privelage with my grand mother or my mom, how strange!

Terry Powers

These are the 3 deaths I have had to deal with, so far. I dread the day, I have to lose any of my sisters or brother.

Happy Wednesday to all you crafters out there.

It is a rainy day here in northwest Arkansas and the last Wednesday I will be in this home. This time next week I will be back in the deserts of Arizona. I'm sure it won't be raining there. Lol

I know this question is not craft related, but since Monday was Memorial Day and since Cathy shared her loss with us, I would like to talk about special people we have lost.

Can you tell us about a special person that you have lost? It can be recent or long ago.

Who were they and why were they special to you?

The people I miss most are my Grandpa and Grandma Foster. When small I was a total Grandpa's girl; I thought he hung the moon. I was his only granddaughter for many years, so was just a little indulged. Lol I also adored my Grandma. She used to let me help her do the dishes when I had to stand on a chair and was more trouble than help. We also made a 9 patch quilt together.

Please share some of your memories; we would all like to read them.

Have a great rest of the week.

Nella
