[NFB-Krafters-Korner] Dexterity improvement through crafts?

My orthopedist for my hands says that the reason I can do crafts is because I do crafts. That is, if I just didn't exercise my hands and keep them moving, they would be much worse. Then I wouldn't be able to do much of anything. I find different crafts bother my hands in different ways. For example, doing loom knitting bothers certain joints in my right hand and making loop pot holders bother certain joints in my left hand. Needle knitting seems to cause me the least pain. I just keep changing from one thing to another to keep dexterity and strength up. I have trigger fingers, carpel tunnel, and arthritis. I will be having surgery to fix 2 trigger fingers on my right hand and work on the carpel tunnel on January 21. 

I work at a call center, so I use a computer all day. In between calls, I knit, crochet, or even make potholders. I hate to sit still and do nothing. 

My suggestion would be to try different crafts to see what works for you.

Good afternoon crafters!

Apologies if anyone sees this message twice. I'm looking for a little advice. I have several dexterity issues, arthritis in two fingers, carpel tunnel and fibromyalgia. *ibromyalgia*   I type for a living, so I need to be able to do so for the entire day. To that end, I'm looking for suggestions to keep my hands moving and dexterity fluid. I used to throw clay on a wheel, but haven't done so in decades. I never got the hang of sewing or knitting, but am willing to give it a shot. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
