Hi Linda,

I know you from somewhere, I thought it might of been this list. But since you say you are new, I guess not. Anyhow, welcome.
I think that the way in which you hold your working yarn is probably the reason your stitches are uneven. Folks wrap their working yarn in different ways. Some folks use there right hand to wrap the working yarn. In this case they need to transfer the hook to the left hand, wrap the yarn, then transfer the hook back to the right hand after wrapping.
Personally, what I do is to keep the hook in my right hand and use the left hand to wrap. I think this keeps the tention better.

May I suggest you join the crochet class which is a continuing class for beginners. Folks are continuously joining. It is a phone and email class where basic knitting of small projects are the focus. Go to https//www.krafterskorner.org
And click on the classes link and then click on the current classes link, then look for the crochet class. You are able to try this class for a month to see if you enjoy it. Then you must become a member for $20 a year if you wish to continue taking this class. Of course, once you pay your dues, you can take as many classes as you want for no extra charge.

Once again, welcome.

May God bless you.
 Cathy F
