[NFB-Krafters-Korner] Colorwork, was Introduction

When I want to knit pictures, I find a dishcloth pattern I like and integrate it into the sweater/top I'm creating.  Not as fancy as colorwork, but what's the fun of a picture if I can't feel it?  
I did some colorwork on the fancy shawl I knitted this winter.  It was hard, but interesting.  But I can't feel the color changes in any way.  
For a while now, I've been thinking how I could do colorwork with 2 different textures of yarn, so I could feel it.  The yarns would have to be the same weight, or I'd have to do something complicated with gauge, but different enough to tell apart.  That's the tricky bit, and I haven't figured it out yet.

I originally joined this group because I wanted to knit pictures and didn't know how to do a method called entarzia. (don't know how to spell it.) Apparently there are several methods of changing colors to make pictures. I guess it will have to be a retirement thing, which I hope is soon. There is a really cool craft store in one of the suburbs, where I can go and take a project and work on it there.

I also love to read! I read a lot of proper romance novels... I’m actually quiet addicted to them! 

I love bright yarn colors... cause I can see them! I design thinks such as hats fingerless gloves, and scarves. Does anyone have any tips on how to do color work? I am okay at it, but sometimes struggle with reading the charts.
