[NFB-Krafters-Korner] Dog slippers

For my project after the rectangles, I'm thinking I'll make some slippers,
put a tail, ears, nose, and eyes on them, and call them Labrador slippers.
I got some gold yarn at the yarn store sale today, so I'm on my way.  I got
a basic crochet pattern from The Big Book of Slippers, so I guess I'm good.

Anyone made Labrador slippers before?  Any hints?
