If you have a piece of cloth - scraps   take it and with your sewing machine
stitch a couple of rows of stitches  leave maybe an inche or two between the
lines of stitching.  Now take the seam ripper and try to get the stitches
out.  It is called a seam ripper and you have made 2 seams and then let us
know how you did.

 

I am not going to give you any hints at this time.  The hints will come
after you gave this a try!
