Hi L M, thank you for the explanation of the Celtic Knot stitch. I am
already thinking of what to make with it, big smile.
yes, I also think that a few rows of knit stitches before and after the
pattern would show it off better. maybe a few knit stitches as a side border
would look good to.
I'll play around with this stitch on straight knitting needles for a
comparison.

Hi Terry,
The Celtic Knot stitch is super easy. Now, whether or not it looks like a
celtic knot, I'll have to take someone's word for it. It is super easy.
Essentially, row 1 of the stitch pattern is all purl stitches. Row 2 of the
pattern is alternating knit purl, knit purl. The third row of the pattern is
all purls again. That's all! You want to set off the pattern with a few knit
rows like 3 or 4. apparently this makes the pattern more prominent.
The ponytail hat is fun and apparently a trendy thing these days. Instead of
gathering the top of a hat and closing it, you leave a hole big enough for a
ponytail to be threaded through. thread stretchy cord around the opening so
that there is some stretch for hair to go through. Because I color the ends
of my hair pink and purple, it looks fun for my tail to come out of my hat!
