[NFB-Krafters-Korner] Beginner Knitting classes

Courtney, keep at it. You will get it. Once you have confidence and speed, you may want to bring the metal needles out of quarantine. But you may prefer plastic and bamboo for a while. Now I only move my hands off the stitches when I put my knitting down. And that's when I can drop stitches most easily, too. The sleeker the needles, the more relaxed my hands can be. That might be personal preference, but it might just be years of knitting. When I go into a yarn shop where there are a lot of long-time knitters hanging around, they are always trying to sell me the slickest needles they have because "the yarn moves so nicely!" But the main thing is that you're learning something new! I learned to knit as a kid, but did very little until my kids went to college thirty years ago. I have now made more than 160 sweaters; lost count of scarves, bags, prayer shawls and really even afghans (dozens). Things look different at this end of the learning curve. But I am still learning new things. I probably have to try the log cabbin pattern. Maybe I can use up a bunch of partial skeins.
