There were a couple of questions asking for the name of things.

 

For the cast on being referred to as the basic cast on in knitting, This
cast on is called the Knit Cast On.  You are doing the knit stitch as you
knit on this cast on.

 

The other what is it called question I saw was what is the name of the
embroidery done all in French Knots?  That is called Candlewicking.
