Tracy, what I did the time I tried the lifeline was do only a few stitches
on just some old yarn and needles.  That way, I got a feel for what it was
like.  Then I added more stitches to try it.  I think using a lifeline is
wonderful but I just never stuck with it, but I hope if you try it you like
it.

A lifeline is a good idea, but, darn it, it's not actually complicated at
all!  It's just me not reading the directions very well.  Or maybe I'll go
with, the directions are confusingly written.

Actually, it wasn't too bad.  I got it all pulled out back to the problem,
fixed it and got back to where I was, only to discover I'd made a different
big mistake.  I get to do it all again today, and this time it won't be so
easy to figure out how far to go back.  Aaaargh!

I decided to knit a top-down cardigan, and was making great progress while
participating in the NFBNJ convention.  Then last night, I counted the
stitches on both sides of my work, and found one side was 4 stitches too
short!  I don't know exactly when it happened, either, so I've decided to
carefully rip it back a few rows, to where I also found I'd dropped a stitch
in a way I can't pick it up, then put it back on the needles and see how my
count is, all without losing my markers for the sleeves and front pieces.
Yikes!  But there are a lot of stitches, and tinking it back would take
days.  Today's convention project.
