I'm so sorry, Tracy.  I can honestly say that there have been times I just
went back to the beginning.  This would happen when I figured out that it
was going to take me longer and I'd have more frustration by just trying to
fix it and I'd have less frustration if I just started over.  When it was
close to a holiday or something, though, I'd often just stop and do
something else.  Notice I keep sayind past tense.  These days I don't knit
much and when I do, I do certain things to try and keep me from having to
frog.  <g<  And there are some things I just never knit anymore--my memory
isn't what it used to be.

Actually, it wasn't too bad.  I got it all pulled out back to the problem,
fixed it and got back to where I was, only to discover I'd made a different
big mistake.  I get to do it all again today, and this time it won't be so
easy to figure out how far to go back.  Aaaargh!

I decided to knit a top-down cardigan, and was making great progress while
participating in the NFBNJ convention.  Then last night, I counted the
stitches on both sides of my work, and found one side was 4 stitches too
short!  I don't know exactly when it happened, either, so I've decided to
carefully rip it back a few rows, to where I also found I'd dropped a stitch
in a way I can't pick it up, then put it back on the needles and see how my
count is, all without losing my markers for the sleeves and front pieces.
Yikes!  But there are a lot of stitches, and tinking it back would take
days.  Today's convention project.
