I love my Denice sets!
I also knit tight, but, nock on wood, have never had my needles come apart!
Out of 2 full sets, a partial set and a set of large cables, for blankets, I
have only had one tip and one cable, get damaged.  Denice allows  you to buy
in sets or individual pieces.
The pieces screw together.  You have to press on the needle tip and screw or
unscrew.

I really like my Addi-clicks interchangeable needles, but, if you're a tight
knitter, you might hate them.  I'm knitting a pattern that's a bit tight in
places, and my needle tip has come uncoupled a couple times when I've been
trying to push stitches up toward the tip to knit them.  Either I have to be
careful to knit loosely next time this bit comes up, or go hunt through my
stash and see if I have the right size needle with a cable that doesn't
detach.
