Cindy you sound like my twin. No I never thought about owning my own. Since 2014 I move too much to warrant buying another thing to take up space since we never have known how much space will actually have. Hopefully this move is the last one. We haven’t lived here more than two weeks. When we’ve lived here a bit longer I’ll consider your suggestion. I knowsewing machines are smaller than the model my mother had. Hers came with its own table. You flipped up part of the top and the sewing machine came up. So the table double the storage when not in use. Not sure if she got it from her mother or “watt. Fact I’m not sure if mom still has it anymore come to think of it. Maybe one of my sisters does. My grandmother Johnson was a seamstress I’m on some of the other side jobs I think she did while raising for kids. Grandma has been gone since 1981. She would be quite surprised at all though technology that’s gone into changing sewing machines these days. I do know there are ones that can do all sorts of fancy embroidery and stuff. My mother still does her embroidery by hand though.

It is terrible finding bras because they think if you are a large circumference that you must be a DD or larger.

Actually had an aide in class but i think she did more of the work when it came to machine sewing. Now i have no space for one anyhow. Handmade clothes would be really cool! Like Little House. I have real trouble threading needles. I’ve seen different blind tricks for threading a needle and nothing brings me success. Twice I ysed the trick to stabilize the self threading needle in a bar of soap. Still can’t do it!!!

You can make a gathered or pleated skirt without a pattern, just a ruler if you want to. I use tissue paper commercial patterns by having someone first cut off the extra paper on the cutting line.

You will want to be in touch with someone offlist or by phone, but take some classes, as well. Joyce and I both have experience, but our techniques are not exactly alike. I'm am sure others on this list also sew. If you wish to phone, my number is 208-338-1595. I believe we do have a member in or near Austin, but I will let her speak for herself.
