Hi Ericka.
I use stitch markers a lot to help with stitch counting.  If I'm making a 42-stitch dish cloth, I put a marker after say stitch 21.  Then I only have to count 21 stitches, see that it's right, then count 21 more stitches and see that's right.  Or, if I'm working a repeating pattern, I put markers every few repeats, or more, depending on how long the repeats are.  Then, if I come to a marker at the wrong place in the pattern, it's easy to go back to the last marker and straighten myself out.
Markers come in everything from plain to fancy.  There are also some that open, so you can mark different kinds of things.  But a package of ordinary stitch markers is a mighty useful thing to have.  Or, in my case, several packages, in case I lose some.

Thanks Tracy. Scarf or dishcloth is good. Something that isn’t intricate but still pretty nice. I want to be able to give things away. I just would like ones that don’t require lots of counting of stitches. I still tend to obess over how many in a row because i tend to increase and not realize it until its too late. Perhaps a towl hanger, like for a kitchen towl. Once you’re done how do you attach the towel to the knitted hanger?
