The 2023 workshop schedule made its annual debut last month, and we’re honored by how many of you have already signed up to take one of our weaving, knitting, spinning, felting or sewing classes! Since its inception in 1971, keeping the tradition of woolen textiles alive has been at the core of Harrisville Designs’ mission, with education being a key component of that mission for nearly five decades. Patty Lyons is Coming to Harrisville

 




We’re delighted to welcome renowned NYC based instructor Patty Lyons to Harrisville. She’ll be teaching four, half-day classes this May, two of which are mentioned above. Patty is a nationally recognized knitting teacher and author of Patty Lyons’ Knitting Bag of Tricks. She is known for teaching the “why” not just the “how” in her pursuit of training the “mindful knitter”. She specializes in sweater design and sharing her love of the much-maligned subjects of gauge and blocking. Among many others, Patty has been a repeat guest on PBS’s Knitting Daily TV and featured as subject-matter expert in publications including the Wall Street Journal. She’s even made a nemesis (all in good fun) out of popular late night host, Seth Meyers—of Late Night with Seth Meyers—on whose popular “Corrections” web series she’s appeared.

If you’ve been into the store on a Saturday recently, you may have had the good fortune to chat with our newest weaving specialist, Bettie Zakon-Anderson. Bringing with her nearly four decades of textile experience, she recently moved back to NH after having taught and co-taught several classes while managing the Vavstuga Weaving School in Massachusetts.

Along with her current role as technical editor for Handwoven and Little Looms magazines, Bettie brings her natural warmth to the retail store where she manages the Weave-a-Projects - and is available to assist new and veteran weavers alike.
