Katherine, good on you for learning braille at 43! It really is very
useful.
I'll keep in mind about the binder clips.
Tracy

Hi Tracey,
I have used paperclips before for this purpose. You can also use a small
binder clip that you can get at Office Supplies Stores or on Amazon. The
ones that I use are about 1 inch across. You can clip the Binder Clip to
the line that you are working on and put the little clip metal handles
facing to the right after you clip the Braille page edge of the paper , then
move the handles together and to the right which is the start of the left
side of your Braille Pattern. Then when you finish reading that line then
you just open the Binder Blip and move it down to the next line of Braille
and move the metal handles together and put them facing the next line of
Braille. I have used them for years and these little Binder Clips do not
move or tend to fall off like paperclips sometimes can. I used a red felt
marker pen to mark my work on a yellow Legal Pad for my knitting patterns
for years until I had trouble seeing the felt tip pen on the paper. You can
try different colors of notebook pa
per or Legal Pads to write your pattern or keep track of your place in your
pattern. You can also get different colors of felt tip pens and different
thicknesses of tips which would help you see your notes and keep your place
better. I used this when I could see pritn. I also inlarged my printed
patterns. I learned Braille at age 43 and got my own teacher to come to my
house to teach me Grade 2. I wanted to remain literate is why I learned
Braille at a later age as I lost more sight. I wanted to continue to design
my own knitting qualting and other craft projects. Learning Braille allows
me to use my remaining sight for this purpose. For those that are thinking
of learning Braille you are never too old to learn Braille. I hope that
this helps.
Happy Knitting!

I like Jewel's idea of using magnets to keep my place in this long lace row,
but the magnet tape I have isn't strong enough to hold through braille
paper, so I'm using a paperclip. It seems to be working OK. I put it on
the edge so it points to the braille line I'm working on, and then I can
keep track of where I am in that line.
Tracy
