Congratulations Sonya!
I find tinking to be an important skill.  It lets me undo my mistakes.
A dish cloth or wash cloth is a good beginner project, too.  Not so big as a scarf, and there are lots that only use knit and purl.
Daisyandstorm.com has lots of free dish cloth patterns for all kinds of fun things.

I know I’m a bit late but I have something I’m proud of to share.

I mentionned in another thread that I started knitting again recently after a break of 26 years. And that back then I learned to cast on, knit and pearl. I knit about a year then stopped.

In the last few weeks I relearned to cast on and knit without my eyes. Then I learned to bind off . Something I never did myself. And Saturday I finished a 8 by 5 inches  inch semple of garter stitch using US 13 bamboo needles and Super Bulky 100% polyester yarn. And today with the help of my mother in law I learned something else I never did myself: to tink )undo a knit stitch?)

Soon, I’ll start working on a small scarf to be worn under a coat.

Originally, I wanted to start with a pot-holder but the biggest 100% cotton yearn I found was size 4, medium. I tried and had a lot of trouble so went as recommended by Touching the yarn to Super Bulky yarn and size 13 needles. Not 8 ply as he wrote but the yarn is big enough for me to feel the details, easilly count my stitches, find the tink strand, etc.

Hi Cathy F., sorry that your plans for a Macrame water bottle holder didn't work out. Do you Loom Knit? I forget if you do or not, if so, you could Loom Knit yourself one.
Where did you find that pattern for a Cable Blanket, and, can you share the Website for it please?

I regret to say that I was unable to successfully make the macrame bottle carrier. I could not figure out how to close the bottom of the holder. Glue would likely not be strong enough. Also, I used a few rings and didn’t like the bulky tube it created. If anyone finds a pattern, let us know. I think a  better option than macrame could be to knit a hat in the diameter needed for the  bottle, then knit it as long as needed. Then  knit  strap and sew it on.
I won’t be making one for my self anytime soon. Instead, besides knitting my cable scarf, I will be beginning work on a latch hook wall hanging. I am looking forward to making another latch hook, because I haven’t done so for a long while. The cable scarf is coming along great.
