A couple of years ago, a group of us NFB Lions met to discuss the possibility of putting together a video that we can use to share with our Lions Clubs around the nation that highlighted the work of Blind Lions and illustrate ways to channel their efforts in more meaningful ways.
 
We never got rolling on this, but I took the idea back to Indiana and came up with a low cost, easy process of making a descriptive video that can be used at various meetings and functions. The video is about 10 minutes long, runs on a laptop or DVD player. It's a great way to get the message across to a group without having to stand up in front of the group and talk. A five minute or so follow up question session makes for a pretty powerful presentation.
I'll show the video I made and will make myself available during the convention to share this process and work with anyone who's interested in helping to make a video that we can take back to our clubs.
 
To do this we'll need to collect pictures of you and others involved in club activities. I know this is short notice but hopefully some of you will bring pictures. Another key component is to record sound bites from as many as possible, describing their involvement in their clubs. These sound bites will provide the true message of the video. If we can collect enough pictures, we should be able to put together a video that everyone can take home with them.
 
Failing that, I'll make enough copies of the Indiana Lions for the ISBVI video for everyone to take with them. I'll also have the free software and a handout or two of how to use the software. We'll also have time to work through some of the steps for creating a video. 
 
Again, the intent of doing this is not meant to be 'look at us and see how wonderful we are in Indiana', but as an example of what can be done when groups such as the Lions and NFB work together to make a real difference.
