Marianne,
Welcome to the list. My name is Tammy. I have been in Lions for several
years. I am currently serving as the President of my club.
I understand about finding your place in a community. I moved to Nebraska 4
years ago at age 51. I really didn't know anybody. Talk about a challenge!
Lol! It took time but I slowly worked my way into a church, Lions Club and
NFB. This grew into sighted and blind community. I have been blessed with
some amazing friends here. Maybe you can try different things. Find a
local ACB or NFB meeting. Give it a few tries before you join. Either of
these can offer blind/low vision community. Lions Club can be a great
resource to volunteer or even paying jobs. We do a lot of networking in our
community. I learned that I had to put myself out there in order to gain my
super great friends. I don't want to sound like some big authority. Just
tossing out info about me starting from scratch. Smile!
Hope things head in a positive direction soon.
Yours in service!

Good Evening,
My name is Marianne. I am a visually impaired Lion in Northern Ca.
Unfortunately, the Lions Center in Oakland is closing. Now, I am looking
for other opportunities to volunteer. I have fun going to Optometrists
collecting glasses.
Who else is out there and what are you doing for projects?
Lion Marianne
