This looks like a great resource. The website talks about a scanner but you do not need to have one to use the website. You can just put in the product name and get directions, ingredients etc.

This is useful for anyone with a print disability who uses a screen reader or alternative access.

Dear VR Colleagues,

Did you know that there is an incredible, free online resource that will help your customers or clients figure out those often confusing labels on medication bottles, including dosages, safety information and side effects? What if they could easily figure out the various ingredients in common household food items like macaroni and cheese and even have free recipes to download?

A new website, www.directionsforme.org, developed by Horizons for the Blind in Crystal Lake, Illinois, puts accessible consumer packaging information for more than 350,000 products at your fingertips. The Hadley School for the Blind is pleased to be partnering with Horizons to get the word out about this unique online tool to print disabled individuals around the world.

Try it out for yourself at www.directionsforme.org. Type in a common household medication or food product and check out the vast amount of information that is available to help your clients be informed consumers.

To learn more about this exciting Web site in more detail, please join us on Thursday, May 19, at 4 PM CST, when Hadley and Horizons will present a free, one-hour "Seminars at Hadley" webinar demonstrating directionsforme.

Horizons Project Coordinator and Technology Specialist Byron Lee will lead the presentation, which will be moderated by Hadley Outreach Coordinator Billy Brookshire. A question and answer session will be included.

Space in this seminar is limited. Please only register if you know you are available to attend so that others are not closed out. To register, visit the Hadley Web site at www.hadley.edu and click on the Seminars link. We also invite you to forward this information to colleagues and clients so that they may benefit too. Thank you.
