Board Meeting Minutes January 19, 2013

                                          New Hampshire NFB Board Meeting
                                                          January 19, 2013

The New Hampshire National Federation of the Blind Board Meeting held on
January 19th 2013 at the Common Man Restaurant in Concord, NH was called to
order by President Cassandra McNabb at 2 PM.

The theme for the month from Manadnock Region is to think of a person who
has changed your life for the better to celebrate February as it's Love and
Care month. February 14th holiday lets us use it to show the love and
devotion from helping generosity received for our growth as individuals. We
all have a story to tell, let's focus on the wonderful outcome achieved by
us.

Upon learning that deaf-blind individuals of Belgium sought and were granted
euthanasia, approved by their country, they chose this method for
themselves. "This disturbing news from Belgium is a stark example of the
common, and in this case tragic, misunderstanding of disability and its
consequences. Adjustment to any disability is difficult, and deaf-blind
people face their own particular challenges, but from at least the time of
Helen Keller it was been known that these challenges can be met, and the
technology and services available today have vastly improved prospects for
the deaf-blind and others with disabilities. That these men wanted to die
is tragic; that the state sanctioned and aided their suicide is
frightening." The National Federation of the Blind needs your support to
ensure that blind children get an equal education, to connect blind veterans
with the training and services they need, and to help seniors who are losing
vision continue to live independent and fulfilling lives. www.nfb.org. from
nfb-talk mailing list message from Dr Marc Maurer President of the NFB.
