[NFB-NM] 2019 Parent Scholarship Information

Dear Friends:

            

The National Federation of the Blind of New Mexico (NFBNM) is once again
offering a scholarship for a first-time attendee parent and their blind
child to attend the 2019 national convention of the National Federation of
the Blind. This year's convention will be held in Las Vegas, Nevada.

            

This scholarship will enable a blind child and at least one of his/her
parents to attend the national convention of the National Federation of the
Blind, at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino on 

July 7-12, 2019.  The scholarship will help to cover the cost of hotel,
convention registration, banquet tickets, and some meal costs for each
parent/child.

 

Applicants must submit a letter of interest by March 1, 2019.  The letter of
interest should introduce the parent and child, describe how the family
found the NFBNM and how this has effected the family.  It should describe
how attending the National Federation of the Blind convention would benefit
both the parent and the child. We also invite and strongly encourage that
the interested parent and child attend our state convention, so that they
would have an idea as to what to expect from the national experience. Our
state convention will be held April 4-7, 2019 at the Embassy Suites Hotel
and Spa, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. 

 

Letter should be sent to Caroline Benavidez, Scholarship Chairman, by e-mail
at CRounds1 at msn.com or by mail to 520 Mayfair Place SW, Albuquerque, NM
87121.  Please include your contact information, phone number, email address
and mailing address.  

 

Scholarship winners will be chosen by a committee, and the winner will be
contacted no later than March 31, 2019.
