Good evening,

At our Washington Seminar, members of the National Federation of the Blind
convene to learn about and advocate for legislative initiatives that will
improve the lives of blind Americans. A small number of legislative
initiatives are chosen for priority attention each year. These initiatives,
which form the NFB's legislative agenda, are based on the official positions
of the NFB adopted at the national convention and can address concerns
related to civil rights, educational programs and services, rehabilitation
of the blind for competitive employment, the operation of vending facilities
by blind persons on public property, specialized library services for the
blind, the organization and funding of federal programs, Social Security
Disability and Supplemental Security Income programs, and other timely
topics.

This year, Washington Seminar will be held virtually on Monday, February 8
through Thursday, February 11, 2021. The Great Gathering-In is the very
exciting opening session of the Washington Seminar. It will take place
virtually this year on Monday, February 8 from 3:00-5:00 PM Mountain Time
via Zoom, and everyone is welcome to join this meeting.

Virtual Congressional Appointments will occur on Tuesday, February 9 through
Thursday, February 11, 2021. At the meeting with each member of Congress, we
would like to have representatives from the local constituency to present
our legislative issues. Full details are not known at this time, but we do
know that a certain number of People will be able to attend these Zoom
meetings as audience members; anyone who is not part of the formal
presentation being given during the meeting will be on mute. Please email
Adelmo if you would like to present to your member of Congress about any of
the issues being covered this year.

Here is a quick list of the legislative priorities for this year: Access
Technology Affordability Act, Medical Device Nonvisual Accessibility Act,
Twenty-First Century Mobile Apps and Websites Accessibility Act, and the
Americans with Disabilities Voting Rights Act.

Best wishes,

Tonia Trapp, secretary
