On July 1, New Mexicos Medicaid program will officially change from
Centennial Care to Turquoise Care. An important part of this transition is
a change to the line-up of managed care organizations (MCOs) available to
Medicaid recipients: Western Sky will no longer be part of New Mexico
Medicaid but two new MCOs will be added Molina and United. Presbyterian
and Blue Cross Blue Shield will continue to be available as well.
Because the MCOs available in New Mexico Medicaid are changing, theres an
open enrollment period from April 1 through May 31 during which you can
pick an MCO. Heres how it will work:
* If youre enrolled with Western Sky, youll need to switch to a
new MCO. You can choose a new MCO either BCBS, Pres, or one of the two
new MCOs joining New Mexico Medicaid. If you dont select one of those MCOs
during the April-May open enrollment period, the Human Services Department
(HSD) will assign you to one.
* If youre currently enrolled in Medicaid with Blue Cross Blue
Shield or Presbyterian and youre satisfied with that choice, you dont have
to do anything youll automatically stay enrolled with that MCO.
* If youre enrolled with BCBS or Pres and want to change to a
different MCO, you can do that during the open enrollment period.
Everyone whos currently enrolled with one of the Medicaid MCOs should get a
packet from HSD in the mail. It will come in a yellow envelope so youll
see it in the mail and know to look at it. The materials in the packet will
give you information about the upcoming change to Turquoise Care and how to
go about selecting an MCO.
Each MCO will have its own network of health care providers, though many
providers will be in more than one network youll want to be sure that the
providers you prefer are in the network for the MCO you choose. For
information about the four Turquoise Care MCOs to help you make your
selection, you can go to their websites:
* Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Mexico
* Molina Healthcare of New Mexico
* Presbyterian Turquoise Care
* United Healthcare Community Plan of New Mexico
You can choose your Turquoise Care MCO in any of the following ways:
* Go to www.yes.state.nm.us/ <http://www.yes.state.nm.us/> and use
the Chat feature,
* Log into your YesNM account at www.yes.state.nm.us/
<http://www.yes.state.nm.us/> ,
* Complete the open enrollment paperwork you get in the mail, or
* Call 1-800-283-4465 or 1-888-997-2583
If the links shown above dont work or if you want more information on
Turquoise Care, the new MCOs, or the enrollment process go to the HSD
website at https://www.hsd.state.nm.us/Turquoise-Care/ to find the links to
the MCO websites and other information about Turquoise Care, including the
extra value added services that each MCO chooses to offer in addition to
the standard Medicaid benefits. There are also several sets of Frequently
Asked Questions that will help you find out more about the coming changes.
HSD is also holding a series of roadshow meetings around the state that
you can attend to get more information about the change to Turquoise Care
and the new MCOs. Those meetings began in late March with little notice and
have already been held in Albuquerque, Las Cruces, Silver City, Deming,
