Hi Christe. My name is Danielle and I just graduated from high school. I do not have a guide dog but I have been a cadet in JROTC for the last 2 years of my high school and have marched in a couple of parades. It may be easier to go sighted guide and march unless your dog has time to learn how far to stay behind the person in front of you. As far as keeping in step and pace you should be able to hear the cadence and you can hear the sound of everyone's feet hitting the floor. I hope this helps. If you have any questions feel free to ask. I am still in contact with my JROTC First Sergeant and she may have some suggestion regarding marching with your dog.

For example, how do you ensure you keep in line and at the correct pace with the procession? Do you use sited guide or your dog? Any suggestions, information, tips, or advice regarding these issues or other issues relating to marching without vision would be sincerely appreciated!
