[Nfb-science] Accessing Python through Linux

Dear all,

I am a senior engineering student at Swarthmore college, and
I am registered for a computer science course in Python this fall. The
department instructs Python using a Linux platform, and I am looking to find a
way to access course materials using windows based JAWS. I am familiar with
several readers that are compatible with Linux, but I understand that they are
inferior. Unfortunately, my Braille skills are not at a level to make a
refreshable display an option. My thought now is to use a Linux based compiler
on windows, although I have not fully researched this option. I was wondering
if anyone on the list has experience with this issue. If so, any advice you
would be willing to share would be much appreciated. (I can be reached by email
at hdahmm1 at swarthmore.edu.)

(Incidentally, I attended this year’s convention, and I had
the pleasure of meeting list serve members in person. Thank you for your
support and professional examples. As a blind student, it is incredibly helpful
to interact with successful blind scientists and engineers, and this encourages
me as I continue my studies.)

All the best,

Hayden Dahmm
