The Science and Engineering Division of the National Federation of the Blind Annual Business Meeting Minutes for July 12, 2017

A meeting of the Science and Engineering Division of the National Federation of the Blind (SEDNFB) was held at the Rosen Shingle Creek Resort in Orlando, Florida, on Wednesday, July 12, 2017.

The meeting was called to order by President John Miller at 7:00 p.m.

Business matters were handled throughout the division meeting.  There was no specific span of time dedicated to business matters.

Treasury Report

The treasurer, Al Maneki, presented the Treasurer's Report. On July 12, 2017, the SEDNFB general fund had a balance of $542.00.  This balance did not include money collected at the July 12, 2017 meeting.  The treasurer's report was approved.

Contributions

Following the SEDNFB's board recommendation, it was moved that the SEDNFB contribute $75.00, to each of the following funds: The Jernigan Fund, the TenBroek Fund, and the White Cane fund. The motion was carried.

Minutes

The membership agreed that the minutes for the SEDNFB 2016 business meeting need not be read since the minutes had been distributed by e-mail. The minutes were approved.

Election

Due to work commitments, Vice-president Kassidy Wilde, resigned on May 1, 2017.  Ashley Neybert was elected as Vice-president to complete Ms. Wilde's term.

Scholarship

The science and engineering division is raising funds for a $3000 scholarship given by the NFB, in the name of the division to a worthy student at the NFB convention.

During the 2017 NFB convention, $3900 worth of pledges were made towards the 2018 NFB STEM scholarship.
