[NFB-Science] Problems with latest version of Acrobat DC Pro

Hi John,

I’ve contacted Adobe already. As far as Adobe reader goes, they do not offer any phone support. You have to inquire through their community forums, and I never get answers to questions regarding Adobe and JAWS there.

As far as acrobat DC goes, I’ve asked for someone who specializes in accessibility with no luck. The best they’ve ever been able to do is tandem into my computer to look at the forms and tell me that all the form fields are in the back there… Then they say it’s not their issue it’s a JAWS issue and I should contact freedom scientific. FS will tandem into my computer and either tell me the fields are there if it’s someone sighted, or the fields are not there if it’s someone blind… Eventually they have me send them the form, tell me they’re looking into it, and that’s the last I hear of it.

I just can’t imagine that I am the only blind screen reader user who is having all these problems with PDF forms.

Kelly

(Google for it) Perhaps somewhere Adobe has a white paper explaining how to set up all these options. If not, then they should expect to help blind users do such setups. After all it is their software. So put the onus on Adobe. Please then report back to this list about your experiences, good or bad. I hope they will be good, but if not, perhaps some of us on this list can help Adobe realize their responsibilities.

First, under the tools tab in the view menu, the icon to prepare forms is missing. When I go through the managed tools tab under the edit menu I can find the prepare forms tool, but JAWS won’t read the form fields of any file I convert to a form. On Files I have been able to convert two forms, the intended signature blocks do not convert to signable fields. This was never a problem in the past.
