Fellow NFB Science and Engineering Division Members-and Trisha:

I am passing along announcements for paid summer internships with my
employer, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. These are located mostly in the
New York City area but also in a few locations in upstate New York. Many of
these sort of paid internships get extended pastthe summer into the school
year, often on a part-time basis. Opportunities are available for those
studying in engineering, architecture, archeology, and related fields
(you'll also see laborer and office support positions). It was through a
similar opportunity with the State of California (Department of Water
Resources) that I began my paid career as a STEM professional who happened
to be blind.

Feel free to pass these opportunities along to anyone else who you believe
may be interested, of course.

If you or someone you know plans to apply, the application process may take
some time, especially if one hasn't worked in Federal service before. I
recommend that you do NOT procrastinate. The ultimate deadline to apply and
provide transcripts (which may be unofficial transcripts at this point),
etc., is 11:59 P.M. E.S.T. on Wednesday 16 February.

If you have any questions, I am happy to reply on list (or to you directly
if I blind carbon copied you). Alternatively, you can reach me directly at
my work e-mail address:

Best,

Nathanael Wales
