Hello,
I want to thank Elizabeth and Rachel from Vispero for the excellent presentation titled "Ten Essential Tips for Using PowerPoint with JAWS".
I joined the seminar on June 18 and found it very helpful.
I appreciate that Vispero have posted it as a podcast.
Please find attached a PowerPoint named "table_Example_20260629.pptx".
Using this PowerPoint an individual can move to slide 3, begin slide show mode with shift + f5, and practice using table navigation commands to skip over the table.
I have noticed that the table navigation commands work when the virtual cursor is on the line that says table with 5 rows and 2 columns.
They also work when the cursor is on any of the table cells.
They do not work when the cursor is on the line that says table end.
In that case, a warning message appears on the braille display saying that you are one line past the table and to move to a table element for using table navigation.
Using table navigation you can skip to the end of a table.
If you are on text below the table you can skip to before the table.
I have been interested about keeping track of how many slides are in my presentation when I duplicate or delete a slide.
I am using Office 365.
When I am in the thumbnails area, the braille display shows for example slide 1 of 3, but JAWS does not speak this information.
If I instead press f6 to move to the slide area then I can arrow through the slides and JAWS speaks the slide number and the total number of slides and the braille display shows the same information.
If I press control + home, I move to the first slide and in this case the braille display shows the slide title and slide 1 of 3.
JAWS does not speak this information, however pressing insert + up arrow makes JAWS speak this information.
Using this same procedure it is possible to read out the slide title when pressing control + n.
I noticed that copilot keeps appearing when I am in the presentation area.
Some times I press up arrow to go to the prior slide in the presentation area and copilot lists choices instead of displaying the slide name.
Pressing escape twice seems to always dismiss copilot in this instance.
Thank you for sharing future tips on how to use PowerPoint with JAWS effectively as a blind person.
Very Best,
John Miller
