9:30-Meet and Greet with Ruth Sager, President of the Senior Division of the
NFB.  Introduction to the National Federation of the Blind and the Maryland
Senior Division; Using a sighted reader to sort mail and find ways to
organize  paperwork with feelable labels; Discuss the Independence Market
and some items of particular interest to seniors losing vision. 

10:00 Staff from the Jernigan Institute will demonstrate Newsline R and the
KNFB Reader. 

11:00 Visit the Exhibit Hall and the Independence Market booth to examine
and purchase items. 

12:00 Lunch for those who have preregistered for this event. Speakers during
the lunch hour are as follows: Amy Crouse, Comanager of Senior Programs at
Blind Industries and Services of Maryland will discuss workshops and
programs taught by staff at BISM. Mr. Everett Bacon, Board Member of the NFB
and National Representative to the Maryland convention will speak about
AAIRA Technology-what it is and how it can enhance independence. Mr. Liam
Lindsay, Rehabilitation Specialist at Blind Industries and Services of
Maryland will demonstrate another new technologn for navigating the
environment, the OrCam product. 

1:00 This is the time for attendees to visit exhibits of items just
demonstrated and ask questions of the presenters and sign up for Newsline.
Those attending may stay and play bingo with the Blind Industries and
Services of Maryland staff and students at 2:00 p.m. or visit other
activities of the convention. 

 

On Saturday, November 11, the Maryland Senior Division will have its annual
luncheon. Our guest speaker is Annemarie Tolman, RN, to share her knowledge
of DoTerra Essential Oil prducts and give us a sensory tour of some of these
oils. Dues are %s5 yearly. Election  of officers will be held. When you join
the Marnland Senior Division you automatically become a member of the
National Federation of the Blind entitling you to all of the benefits and
privileges membership brings.
