**Minutes from September:
NATIONAL FEDERATION OF THE BLIND OF NEBRASKA SENIOR DIVISION SECRETARY's
REPORT
Monday, September 9, 2019
The NFBN Senior Division met by telephone conference Monday, September 9,
2019. President Robert Newman called the meeting to order at 7:01 PM CDST.
Members present were: President Robert Newman, Vice President Barbara Loos,
Secretary Linda Mentink, Treasurer Cheryl Livingston, Board Member Nancy
Oltman, Chris Boone, Gina Finnell, Walt Hively, Brad Loos, and Jerry
Whitlow. The only guest was Della Johnston.
Robert recited the NFB Pledge. Linda will recite it next month.
Linda read the August Secretary's Report. It will be made a part of the
permanent record of the organization.
Cheryl read the August Treasurer's Report as follows:

Expenses
PAC plan for September $ 15.00
Total Expenses $ 15.00

Ending Balance September 9, 2019 $1205.33
Respectfully submitted,
Cheryl Livingston, Treasurer
It will be made a part of the financial record of the organization.
After lots of discussion, Chris moved, Cheryl seconded, that we provide $150
in scholarship funds for Jerry. The motion carried.
Barbara read the draft agenda for our annual meeting during the upcoming
NFBN convention. Nancy will be there during registration to greet and help
settle people in the room. Robert suggested that we bring things we use to
show during the time to share alternative techniques and technology. Barbara
will bring the rest of the cards that she made to hand out so that people
will know when are meetings are, and have the numbers. Robert has clickers,
and will get them to someone before the convention. Cheryl and Chris will
bring the clickers they have.
Robert is making up 80 packets to send to Cameo Rogers for their conference,
which is at the same time as our state convention. Maybe videos can be made
at Brad and Barbara's home with those who can come and help out. Robert will
work on setting that up after Convention.
Back to convention plans, Brad, Nancy and either Bob Burns or Chris will do
the "fit breaks."
Nancy reported that the lady with whom she has been in contact is
interested, but it may be that someone will have to get her on with
three-way calling.
Linda reported that Dorothy Babel has been sick for the past three weeks.
She went to see a specialist, and he told her to rest.
Robert reported that one thing he's doing with Ruth Sager is working on the
national Seniors, Division website. He has a webpage where seniors can find
a division in their state. He has sent an email to all the affiliate
presidents asking if they have a Senior Division, or if they want him to
help them start one. There will be calls on the nights of September 26 and
27 for anyone who is in a senior division and wants to talk about
networking. They are starting to put together lists of topics and speakers.
BRAGS AND DRAGS. Nancy's sister Myrna and brother-in-law Floyd have been
married 68 years today.
Jerry's brag is that she is signed up for services again, and she has had
two visits from Jan Branddt, who is helping her with her iPhone. Her drag is
that someone keeps opening her backyard gate during the night, and her dogs
get out. She had to go to the pound and bail out her Chiwawa. We suggested
she get a padlock for her gate.
Gina is having plumbing problems. Also, her bank (Wells Fargo) would not
take a cash deposit from her driver. She had to make a special trip down.
She's going to switch banks.
Chris said that Jolene Boshart had a subdural hematoma a couple weeks ago.
She's in rehabilitation, but is doing really great, and will be released on
Saturday. Barbara added that she asked, and her minister came to the rehab
place and did an anointing service.
Cheryl said that Connie Daly's mom passed away this past Friday after a long
illness.
Barbara and Brad went to Oregon last month to celebrate her brother's 75th
birthday and her sister's upcoming 70th. Her sister wasn't in very good
health at all, so they had to help her release her cats to go to foster care
with the hope of adopting them together later on. She is now in a skilled
nursing/rehabilitation center, with the hope of getting into assisted living
if she can get some of her health issues turned around.
All board members are willing to run again for the next term.
There was no further business, so we adjourned at 8:43 PM.
Respectfully submitted,
Linda Mentink, Secretary
