Judy

Here in Nebraska, recently, two springs back, we in the NFB of Nebraska, working with the Commission for the Blind, got the Nebraska legislature to boost the Commission's annual budget by $540,00.00 per year to work with the senior blind. Over the past decade or so, got fewer and fewer rehab services, until it was down to just a few visits; the federal dollars we use to get for people who did not have a goal of a job, dwindled and dwindled. We now are back to getting unlimited service! All the home visits needed, and also that seniors without a vocational goal to go back to work, can attend our Nebraska Training Center for the Blind; it is modeled on the NFB training center concept. Yes, our Senior Retreats are a good program; all that some seniors will get, if they can get to South Carolina.

Yes, I loved hearing about the experiences at the Rocky Bottom training. I know several older people I would love to see go to a training like that.
